African streamer Showmax kicks off February with a bang – with a brand-new app, an ambitious slate of 21 African Original titles and an even bigger offering of international titles.
Landing on 12 February, South African serial killer thriller Red Ink, adapted from Angela Makholwa-Moabelo bestselling debut novel of the same name, tells the story of a journalist turned publicist whose life takes a dramatic turn when she is approached by an imprisoned serial killer to tell his story.
Catch Me A Killer, also premiering on 12 February, follows Charlotte Hope (Game of Thrones) as Micki Pistorius, South Africa’s first-ever serial-killer profiler. Adapted from Pistorius’ memoir, the true crime series is set in the mid-90s and traces Pistorius’ quest, as a newly-qualified forensic psychologist, to track down South Africa’s most feared killers.
South African drama series Wyfie follows four mismatched first-year roommates as they navigate the complicated world of university life and how they walk the thin line between mischief and wrongdoing to survive. Wyfie premieres on 12 February.
The Real Housewives of Durban, the longest-running Real Housewives franchise in Africa, returns on 9 February, with new episodes on Wednesdays. The fourth season adds two new housewives who are both no stranger to the spotlight- fashion television host Zama Ngcobo, Ameigh Thompson and Angel Ndlela – who will fit right in with returning cast members include Sorisha Naidoo, Nonku Williams, Slee Ndlovu and Maria Val.
From Nigeria, the drama series Flawsome returns for a second season on 12 February. On 12 February, also catch the Igbo epic series Cheta M which explores the extraordinary love story of two young lovers who must fight to protect their love in a world where tensions between two kingdoms have reached dangerous levels.
Based on one of the highest-grossing gaming franchises of all time and exec produced by Steven Spielberg, Halo S2 premiers on 12 February. The series is set amid an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.
Seth MacFarlane is back in an all-new prequel event series in which the foul-mouthed bear is forced to navigate high school alongside his best friend John in Ted on 12 February.
On 12 February, also catch David Oyelowo as Bass Reeves, a slave who became the first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi, arresting over 3,000 outlaws during the course of his career in Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is one of the executive producers.
NBC comedy classics The Office (box set) and Parks and Recreation (box set) drop on 12 February with The Rookie S5 landing on 22 February.
Tom Cruise is once again ready to do the most daring stunts in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning dropping 12 February while Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse lands on 18 February. Catch Jennifer Lawrence in No Hard Feelings on 5 February. On 1 February, Brendan Fraser’s transformative Oscar-winning performance lights up The Whale, the story of a reclusive English teacher living with severe obesity who attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter.
