Michelle Kawira is a skilled writer who over the years has formulated her own unique way of writing stories. Her ability to elegantly write stories that reflect society, disrupt the status quo, entertain as well as evoke genuine human emotions from viewers is what has propelled her passion and drive.
She wrote her first playwright under the Kenyatta University Performing Artists called 'Homecoming' back in 2011. It was well staged and received great accolade.
Her experience in screenwriting began in 2018 when she wrote first short film 'Alone', shining a light on mental health awareness. It premiered in March 2019 and received positive criticism. She slowly ventured into televison with 'Pieces of Us' where she wrote 10 episodes.
Her most recent film work titled 'Act of Love' which won the short film grant money from Some Fine Day Pix is currently in post-production. It touches on the theme of post-partum depression and society's perception on it.
