Actor Charles Ouda writes about the failings of the Kenyan film and TV industry to protect its actors.
Charles J. Ouda has worked consistently in the entertainment industry for over 20 years. A multi disciplinary artist, Charles has starred in a number of shows on regional television, including Makutano Junction and The Know Zone [The Mediae Company], Changing Times [KTN], Higher Learning, Changes, Mali [NTV], Second Family, Crime and Justice [Showmax] and Salem [Maisha Magic]. His film credits include Exposure 36 [Gravitas Ventures], Wit's End [TopShot Productions] and Waiting Room [W.A.Y. Productions]. Charles was the 2016 Elenora Duse International Scholar for 2016, and completed a 2-Year Conservatory at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. More recently, Charles won a Kenya Theatre Award for his work on The Manic Monologues, to add to the Golden Actor Award he received in 2020 for his work on Wit’s End. Charles lives in Nairobi, Kenya and currently hosts a podcast called The UnDiscovered Podcast, as well as teaching actors in The Talent Studio.
