The Matrix 4, also titled The Matrix Resurrections, is again directed by Lana Wachowski and it follows Neo (Keanu Reeves) as his life takes an unexpected turn when he finds himself back in the Matrix.
Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith also return as Trinity and Niobe respectively, with new appearances from Yahya Abdul-Mateen (Candyman), Priyanka Chopra (The White Tiger) and Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother).
This is Mumbi’s second role in Hollywood. Her first was in the Netflix sci-fi series Sense8 where she played Zakia, a pansexual woman who’s in a relationship with Capheus – played by British actor Aml Ameen (I May Destroy You) in season one and Nigerian American actor Tony Onwumere (Empire) in season two. Sense8 was created and directed by the Matrix duo – the Wachowski sisters (Lana and Lilly) – was cancelled by Netflix just after two seasons.
Recently, it was announced that Mumbi, who’s been absent in the local scene for almost five years, except for her short lived stint in 40 Sticks, will also appear in the upcoming Kenyan film, Nafsi, written and directed by Selina’s Reuben Odanga.
The Matrix Resurrections will be released in theatres on 22 December, 2021.
